Document Despatch, a leading provider of Direct Mail Solutions based in Hampshire, has recently invested in a Ricoh Pro C7110 digital press to provide the necessary quality and capacity to support the company's growing volumes of business. The Ricoh was installed in July alongside a 615 cutter-creaser from Duplo.
Leigh Foster, Managing Director of Document Despatch said:
The decision was made due to a 50% increase in our colour digital print revenue over the last 12 months. We replaced a labour intensive 65ppm digital machine which printed very slowly on thicker substrates and was struggling to cope with the upsurge in volumes.
After stringently evaluating similar devices we opted for the Ricoh Pro C7110 with a powerful E-83A Fiery Print Server. The deal was brokered through Altodigital; James Abrahart, CEO and owner of Altodigital is a shareholder in Document Despatch and the relationship helped us achieve a fantastic deal.
The Ricoh C7110 allows us to produce previously outsourced short run work in house thus reducing lead times. The print quality is excellent and improvements in digital print technology over the last few years ensure litho quality. The ability to produce personalised print in house has reduced lead-times, has increased efficiencies in labour and will no doubt add profitable contribution to the business.
There are also other tangible benefits including spot and overall varnish capability and high capacity stackers which enable us to produce work overnight, if required. We have also successfully printed full colour branded envelopes which is going down well with our customers.
Our expertise lies in accuracy of processing data, graphical and imagery personalisation which is tailored to marketer’s requirements. There is an increasing requirement for targeted mailings - personalised letters, postcards and self-mailers are popular and it is vital data is managed proficiently and documents are set up accurately which is the main benefit of using Document Despatch rather than a printer for this type of service.
